What is this module about
Together with our lecturing staff, Dr. Alin Baiescu and Drd. Aurel Bernat, our students will be engaging in key subjects such as supply and demand, theory of the firm, market imperfections and the development of new markets (such as the green and digital ones), and behavioural economics. At the end of this module, students will be able to analyse businesses, investment decisions, and market opportunities in a clear and structured way. In addition, they will learn a new, key vocabulary of economics that is essential to engaging with investors, partners and international business. The module will focus on entrepreneurship and how to build step by step a new business.
The key feature of the Economics for managers and entrepreneurs module lies in its unique design that places the students in a strong competition that will ultimately motivate them to come up with successful business ideas. Through brainstorming activities, they will outline the best solutions to the most aggravated challenges in the business environment and will be capable of defending great ideas and of evaluating the impact of various economic environments on supporting entrepreneurs as value creators.

Who is delivering this module?
Dr. Alin Baiescu and Drd. Aurel Bernat are members of the TEE community since 2015, alumni of the Executive MBA delivered in Cluj and one of the best lecturing staff we had for the previous cohort.
Students appreciated their practical experience on this topic, which comes from their professional background, but also the academic quality paired with teaching style based on case studies analysis, debates and immediate feedback.
Dr. Alin Băiescu is a Senior Executive in the financial banking, insurance, and pensions field, with more than 20 years of experience. With exceptional academic record, sales and customer service results, Alin has expertise in building new operations and teams, but also in coordinating inter-departmental projects. He is one of the graduates of the Executive MBA program offered by the University of Hull in partnership with TEE and has a PhD in Economics, majoring in Finance (2011).
Alin is the author, co-author, and coordinator for 10 books till now, on topics such as insurance, finance, and business. He represents the EMBA Alumni community in TEE Board, organising their publishing and research work. He is currently a Broker Manager at Aegon Romania.
Aurel Bernat has been the CEO of BT Asset Management since 2017. A graduate of Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, European Institutions Management section, with post-graduate studies in Business Administration, Aurel continued his studies at Hull University, where he graduated from the Executive MBA program (2017).
Since 2007, he has joined the BT Asset Management team, being responsible both for maintaining the relationship with investors and potential investors, as well as for implementing the company's development strategies.
After two years as Deputy General Manager, in 2017 he took over the CEO role of BT Asset Management.
Aurel is the chairman of the Board of Directors of BT Pensii, member of the board of the Association of Fund Administrators from Romania and is involved in various Romanian companies or private equity funds.
He is currently studying for a PhD at the University of Hull.

A passionate believer in creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, Ioana Bidian Colfescu is the Managing Director of ArtVinium and a wine expert. After a master's degree in Wine science and internship in France, she spent twelve years at USAMV Cluj as a Lecturer of Oenology, Viticulture and Ampelography. Leaving the academic world, the passion for wine was subsequently implemented in project management, marketing and branding strategies for wine positioning and selling, contributing to the growth of many businesses, for both Romanian and international producers.
