Book launch - 5th of May

It is with great pleasure that we announce the publication of a new book by Andrew Taylor, TEE Managing Director and MBA Programme Director. The book, entitled Re-constructing the Global Network Economy: Building Pathways to Resilience in Local Economies” published by Routledge (Taylor & Francis Group UK), explores the process of building more resilience into socio-economic networks within local communities. Understanding the relationships between attachment to place, complex systems and patterns of knowledge creation is not straightforward, but these relationships are emerging as the challenges that we face in bridging the gap between the social worlds we inhabit and an emerging digital world.

The book launch will take place on the 5th of May, at 7 pm. Participation is based on invitation. Those interested in taking part in the event, we invite you to write an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Content of the book

This book is a bottom up, case study driven, follow up to the previous book - People, Place & Global Order.  With two case studies from Romania and two from the US (two cities, one microbrewery and one NGO), it offers practical global insights into the role of entrepreneurs, universities, public institutions and citizens in developing relational capital, that when attached to a specific place becomes rooted as locational capital. As such, the book examines numerous models of local and regional development, identifying, in the case studies, what seems to work and what doesn't, through the lens of networked digital disruption.  In the end, the book is designed to provide an informed guide for anyone interested in enabling the place that they call home to thrive in a networked world.

The book is divided into five main chapters:

  1. The Old and The New: Regional Development and Transformational Entrepreneurship
  2. Stewardship & Resilience in Networked Spaces
  3. A Fork in the Road - Exploring Space, Place and Method
  4. Zooming from Somewhere to Anywhere: Case Studies
  5. Pioneering Stewardship - Thriving in a Networked World
