In today’s networked world, the survival of a business is dependent on its strategic plan. In order to succeed, one would likely move towards the unexplored market where one can create and capture new demand rather than remaining in an existing market space where the strings have been already pulled. This is what our students will learn to do during the Strategy and Value Creation module (September 14-17) – how to be different from their competitors by finding or creating new market spaces.

The Strategy and Value Creation module was designed to enable our students to understand strategic issues around and related to the survival, competitiveness, innovation and transformation of organisations. During this module they will explore various tools of strategy, examine major models of strategy and consider how to think about market and product innovation and transformation.

 

With this in mind, Strategy and Value Creation relies heavily on a significant amount of case study work designed to develop the students' analytical and problem-solving skills by exploring various strategy frameworks in several contexts such as small and family businesses, multinational corporations, or non-for-profit organisations. The analysis conducted will take into account environmental factors like the economic, political, social, ecological, or legal factors that influence a business and its strategy. Amongst the processes studied during the module special attention will be given to forecasting about the future conditions and outcomes in order to be able to develop a strategic plan and make decisions for the benefit of the company.

Two experienced lecturers and practitioners are delivering this module
Cristian Paun

With a refreshing and new approach on digital strategy we have Cristian Păun. He  is a change maker and an innovator with strong storytelling abilities that inspires growth mindset. A passionate Senior Executive from the Chemical / Insurance / FMCG / Banking / Telecommunications industry, Cristian is the Global Digital Strategist for DuPont for almost 3 years now. He is focusing on the connection between IT and successful business outcomes, both with bringing top-line growth as well as cost reduction programs. Cristian served as technology thought-leader & adviser, implementing technologies like artificial intelligence, robotic process automation or IoT to generate high business value, sharing all this knowledge as a member and contributor to Forbes Technology Council, FEDIL - The Voice of Luxembourg's Industry, and AITECHTalents.

As a certified business designer and international keynote speaker, he helped companies to transform business ideas into viable digital business models,  leading globally innovation, M&A, integration and separation programs. He crafted procurement and vendor strategies that allowed to achieve multi million EUR savings.Cristian has a MBA from British Academy of Business and he is a graduate of University Politechnica of Bucharest.

In perfect teaching symbiosis with Cristian, we have Ovidiu Bordean, Ph.D. Ovidiu is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Babeș-Bolyai University where he teaches strategic management and business strategies to BA and MA levels.

Ovidiu was a Fulbright RAF Scholar hosted by University of Rochester, Ain Center for Entrepreneurship. He was guest lecturer at various universities in: Texas A&M University at San Antonio (USA), Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (Germany), Dongguk University (South Korea), Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (Finland), University of Economics in Katowice (Poland), University of Maribor (Slovenia).

Ovidiu was Vice-President of the Society for Business Excellence and Editorial Assistant of the journal Management & Marketing. Challenges for the Knowledge Society.

His research interests focus on the area of business strategies, entrepreneurship education, and corporate governance. Ovidiu contributed to the Executive MBA programme delivered in Cluj in the last 6 years.

Cristian Paun

A new Executive Talk edition will take place on Friday, 15th of September from 5 pm. Dr. Marc Sniukas is a Professor of Management & Innovation at the Luxembourg School of Business and a sought-after speaker and advisor on the topics of growth strategy, strategic innovation, and new ways of working. With over 20 years of experience working with senior leaders and their teams helping them to identify their highest-value opportunities and address their most critical strategic challenges, Marc is the author of several books on strategy, business model innovation, and building new growth businesses.  

He leverages unique expertise combining strategic problem-solving, innovative thinking on management and leadership, and pragmatic insights about people and organisations to help his clients shape strategy, deliver innovation, and create lasting transformation.
